Junior Girls Cricket
Heidelberg Cricket Club is a passionate supporter of Girls cricket and is looking to attract interested Girls wanting to play cricket. The Heidelberg Cricket Club prides itself on offering an inclusive, friendly environment with players of all ages and abilities welcome.
In the 2022/23 Season, HCC we will be running a program dedicated and focused on developing the cricketing skills for girls, and encourage you to come down and have a go. We will be fielding several Girls teams in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association (DVCA) Junior Girls competition (entering it's fourth year). This is a competition for girls aged 10-17. and is currently made up of over 10 clubs in the DVCA. This competition has doubled in size since its inception and is growing each season with more and more girls wanting to play cricket.
The HCC is hugely committed to it’s female cricket program, and have appointed a Senior Women’s coach (Ash Reily) who will also provide guidance and assistance to the next generation of female crickets, and is heading-up our Female cricket program.
The Junior Girls competition currently plays games on a Wednesday afternoon/evening starting at 5pm, and normally finishing around 7.30pm. A modified T20 format is used (similar to the Big Bash League!) to cater for all abilities and to provide guidance for the girls to develop their skills, enjoy learning the game and meet other girls who share the same interest in cricket.
Training for Junior Girls on Monday evenings, between 4:30-6pm.
If you are looking for a friendly club, and are wanting to play (maybe for the first time), then Heidelberg is the club for you.
If there are any girls who are interested in trying cricket, simply register your interest here, and we will get in touch prior to the start of the 2022/23 season. Players of all levels - even beginners who have never played before - will be welcome, and made to feel part of the club from the very beginning.
Junior Girls Competition
The Junior Girls competition will be divided into three categories, which are focused on ability rather than age. This way, beginners of similar ability will play against other beginner players. Age groups are currently U12, U16, and U18. First time players can receive dispensation to play in a lower age group where it may be more suited to their abilities, if necessary.
Grading will be broken up into 3 grades :-
"Beginner" - Has NOT played before
"Medium" - Has played before, but still developing their skills
"Accomplished" - Skills well developed, plays at a competitive level.
NOTE: Age Cut-Off for players is determined by their age as of the 1st September. For example, For Under 16s, the player must be under 16 on 1st September.
